Why an academic planner built from the first line of code for neurodivergent students exists, and what it refuses to be.
The gap
Disabled and neurodivergent students persist and graduate at lower rates than their peers. Executive function is one real part of that gap. It is not the whole of it, and we do not claim otherwise.
What we noticed is narrower and more fixable: the planning tools handed to these students assume the executive function the tools are supposed to supply. They assume you can look at a list and know where to start. They assume a deadline three weeks out feels like a deadline. They assume today is like yesterday.
For a lot of students those assumptions are exactly wrong, and the result is an app that makes them feel worse and gets deleted in February.
The stance
Neurodivergent-first, not retrofitted. Built from the first line of code for ADHD, autism, and learning differences. Not a productivity suite with an accessibility mode added late.
Shame-free. No streaks, no overdue counters engineered to produce guilt, no comparison to a neurotypical standard. Capacity that varies is a fact to plan around, not a failure to correct.
The student owns it. Every share is granted by the student, visible to them, and revocable. Parents and coaches are invited in, never assigned over their head.
Privacy enforced, not promised. Ownership checks and forced row-level security sit under the academic, energy, and consent tables. Sharing is a deliberate act.
Alongside, not instead. We complement Canvas, disability services, and the coaching relationship. We are not trying to replace any of them.
Where it is
Scholexis is in limited release. It is built and operated by Synaxis, a one-person firm in Atlanta.
